Tall Oaks finish

Good morning, everyone! I finished this Prairie Schooler sampler a couple of weeks ago, but forgot to post it here! This is from the Band Samplers booklet (Book No. 40) and I call it "Tall Oaks," even though it has no formal name. Filled with all those great fall colors, it was the perfect piece to stitch this month...

Don't you love the little squirrels? I did make a couple of changes in the colors--the main being I changed the color of the acorns to DMC 3045.

I still can't believe that October is half over... Soon, the little squirrels will be hiding their gathered acorns in preparation for a long winter!

Hope your day is going well so far! Happy Stitching!

A small finish and a new start

Happy Autumn, everyone (well, at least to those of you in the Northern Hemisphere)! Things have turned a bit cooler here, but, what a gorgeous September we've had. In keeping with the season, I have a couple of fall-themed pieces to share with you today.

The first is simply called "Autumn" and is from an old Just Cross Stitch magazine. I stitched it over one on 28 ct. black Monaco using the suggested DMC threads.

To finish it off, I simply "framed" it with some rust colored ric-rak and used the acorn strewn fabric as the backing.

My second PS piece is a larger sampler from the Band Samplers book (no. 42). I just loved the saying on it "Tall trees from little acorns grow." I hope to have it completed soon, but here is a peak at my progress so far.  If you would like any more information on these, I just posted about them on my blog, Stitching Dreams, this morning.

Wishing you each a pleasant day--hope it includes some stitching time!
